38 Weeks 5 Days & Bed Rest

We went to our appointment at noon, my blood pressure was 142/88, which is low, compared to usual higher numbers. No protein in the urine and only +1 pound!  I also mentioned to the doctor I am still "dealing" with the headaches.

The doctor immediately suggested not returning to work & bed rest...not what I wanted to hear, I mean I will do anything to keep Baby L safe, but I do not want to miss out on the money, or find myself bored after one day...

We also have to monitor my blood pressure & were sent home with a neon orange jug & hat...that's right, I get to collect my urine for 24 hours--the Dr wants to monitor protein. I am also less than thrilled about this, mostly because I have to keep it "refrigerated or in a cooler with ice.." Big duh to the receptionist at the OB!

Here goes Day .5 of bed rest! :)

38 Weeks

Woo Hoo!! Only two more weeks left until Baby L's due date! Breck & I are both hoping for sooner, rather than later!
On Friday, we had to go to the doctor at 2:00 to get my blood pressure checked. On my way to meet Breck my hand & side of my face started feeling numb & I could barely see, all I could think was--really high BP!
We finally got back into the exam room, I was right about my blood pressure, it was 165/90. The doctor seemed very concerned, as I told him about my symptoms from earlier. He also stated the only way to solve the problem was to deliver Baby L, and sent Breck & I over to L&D again. We thought we might actually meet him soon...
We checked in at the hospital, got into our triage room, and waited. Soon I was hooked up to a blood pressure cuff getting my BP every five minutes, and a monitor to keep track of L. (I love watching & hearing his heart rate!) Later, the nurse also did some blood work. My BP obviously went down to about 135-140/80 because I was lying down, but went back up as soon as I got up to use the rest room.
They ended up sending us home once again, because my blood work checked out fine & my BP did go down. I was very frustrated by this, because I know they will send me back to the hospital during my next OB visit & also because I am sick of dealing with this headache.
The headache eventually turned into a migraine by the end of the night, I had never experienced something so painful--I know, childbirth will be worse!

L's "tummy home" @ 38 weeks, excuse my awful look!

Baby L's Room

Although I do NOT like characters, I love Dr. Seuss, and when we first found out we were expecting I fell in love with this bedroom set.

We made the pictures behind the crib, using pages from the "Cat in the Hat." There are also more pictures up behind the changing table now from "One Fish Two Fish." His room is completely finished, we just need him!

As for his clothing...this isn't even all of it, I think I may have a problem, but at least he'll be well dressed!

A long way to go & a short time to get there.

My first blogging experience and 37 weeks 6 days.

Baby B is full term, and we are quickly approaching his due date (April 8th). I am dilated "a little" & my cervix is "very soft" according to our OB. Yesterday at our weekly check up L's heart beat was 140, and doing well. However, my blood pressure is up a little, so she sent us over to L&D to monitor my BP & to collect blood to ensure I do not have preeclamsia. She also ordered an NST, and  an ultrasound of my left leg, to ensure there are no blood clots.

Breck & I were at the hospital from about 3:00 until 5:30. First I was hooked up to a monitor to see if I was contracting & to also monitor L's movements and heart beat. He was "reactive" in the NST. To be reactive he just needed to move or respond twice in 20 minutes, our active boy passed within 10 minutes.

Phlebotomy then came to draw a lot of blood & then Breck & I were off to the leg ultrasound...I found this very interesting & had no idea ultrasounds of legs were so common. She pressed down on my veins to make sure they would collapse and also checked the blood flow of my left leg. She also did a few areas in my right leg to have something to compare it to. We also passed this!

All of my labs came back & we passed everything, minus the BP which topped out @ 144/75. So we were sent home, I have to go Friday to get my BP checked again.

Breck & I are very excited for L to make his appearance, everything is done around the house, our bags are packed--all we need is baby!
